Stuart Hight
IFS Informed Therapist (IFSCA Trained), Registered Counsellor (PACFA), Masters of Counseling
A little bit about me
I am a happily married man (He/Him) with three amazing adult children. I live in and enjoy the bush of the Perth Hills in Whadjuk Noongar Boodja. I have been graced with my family heritage of loving nature, especially if water is involved. When I am not with clients or working on our property, I am restoring my soul through swimming, diving and fishing.
My call to counselling came from many years of walking alongside others assisting with their own joys and trials, whilst experiencing the support of others in the same.
Life can be heavy
We are often plagued with difficult times, and endless questions about life. We can feel trapped by never-ending worries and find ourselves in cycles grasping for answers. Falling into an exhausted heap where numbness and distraction seem to be the only way to escape distress.
I know I have certainly been there. Heavy with burdens, pain and shame.
Hope!
I believe that when we are provided with a compassionate safe space which honors the complex and sometime bizarre nature of our inner world, the gentle healing rain can begin to fall.
I can personally testify to the healing power of IFS. By befriending the parts of me who have been working so hard to keep my young vulnerable parts safe, they are finally able to begin to relax and trust my wise self to lead with courage compassion and creativity.
As I travel further down the ever winding path of healing, the perpetual internal battles are beginning to subside. Slowly but surely my inner landscape, so long dominated by shame and pain, is rediscovering joy, tenderness and even awe.
My Commitment as a Counsellor
As a gentle, thoughtful man I am committed to creating a safe space where others can have experiences of healing, connection and wholeness.
I am a registered Counsellor (PACFA) with both a Degree and Masters in Counselling.
My Training in IFS has been through IFSCA having completed Stepping Stones and Stepping Deeper. I have also completed numerious IFS workshops with Simon Dorsgna and Oliver Brooke and am continuing my IFS training via the IFS Institute.
Before entering private practice I worked as a counsellor with people with addiction challenges both in prisons and in the community.
