Unattached burdens, Guides, Ancestors, and Legacy Burdens are spiritual presences that can be found in our internal system (psyche) which are not our parts or Self.

Nearly a decade ago, Robert (Bob) Falconer had a significant spiritual presence experience with a person who had an Unattached Burden (UB) come up in a practice group in an IFS training. At the time Bob was the program assistant for a triad group and had to take over the session with this person and using the limited knowledge and skills he had (at that time) to work with UB’s, he was able to guide the person to release the UB. This was a turning point for Bob as the person reported significant improvements in their life after the session with Bob releasing the UB.

Bob has spent the last decade dedicated to IFS and what he calls ‘The others within us.’ He recently released his decade-long exploration of these spiritual presences in our individual and collective psyche in his Best Selling Book - “The Others Within Us: Internal Family Systems, Porous Mind, and Spirit Possession - Robert Falconer” Browse Bob’s book here.

I (Oliver) have been following Bob’s work for several years and have had the pleasure of being in an advanced consulting group with Bob fortnightly (ongoing) to explore these experiences with Bob and other Australian IFS therapists. He is a sage in this area and I highly recommend Bob as a therapist, IFS consultant, teacher and author.
